On the go in Grade 7 – Week of Feb. 7

We had a fantastic ski day last week and look forward to our next day of skiing fun on the 17th.

This week we will be continuing our study on Ancient Greece, with a test on Thursday. Study guides were sent home last week (and see previous blog post) and students will bring home reading guides and lapbooks they made on Monday. Students have also chosen a topic on Ancient Greece to research more in depth and will be starting to work on this project this week as well. We will continue to explore Greek mythology, both with our novel study, written assignments and art projects.

Finally, the Olympics have started! Perfect timing as we study Ancient Greece. I enjoy celebrating the effort and hard work of Canadian Olympians and so students will also do a brief research on one sport / Olympian to do a short presentation about different athletes. We will watch the Olympics each lunch.

In Bible, we will continue learning about different people in the book of Acts and also learning from references to Greek culture and religion. We are watching a video series that are narrative accounts by Bible personalities of portions of Acts, such as Peter discussing the start of the church as described in Acts 2-5. Together, the videos and study guides provide an in-depth view of the book of Acts.
